Will Taking Morning After Pill Cause Weight Gain And Thyroid Problem?

Hi, my name is zaysha. I took a morning after pill last month on the 15th. I had my period for 3 weeks but my question is ever since I ve been gaining weight and my thyroid glands look bigger, I was diagnosed with hypothyroid over 5 years ago but last time I checked it was normal, so that s my concern now. I know my hormones are all over the place now but is that why I m gaining weight? Should I take this to a specialist

Hello,

A single tablet of the morning after pill does not cause weight gain or thyroid problems. Prolonged use can cause weight gain, but thyroid problems are unlikely. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
