Will The Azithromycin Dosage Stay In The Body For 10 Days?

Hello. My 6yr old daughter weighs 37 pounds. She is scheduled to have her tonsils and adenoids removed in 7 days. Her tonsils are flaring up and the Ped. ENT put her on Azithromycin 200 MG/5ML to take 4ml once a day for 4 days. He said it ll stay in her system for 10 days to get her through the surgery. It makes me nervous because if she isn t on meds, her tonsils flare up and I don t want her surgery to be cancelled. Should I just trust that the medicine in this dosage will stay in her system for that long? Thanks.

HI.
A very good question.
The half life in our medical terminology is the highest for the medicines called Azithromycin. It can stay in the body and still be acting for 5 to 7 days as your Doctor has suggested. Since you will be giving this medicine for further 4 days we can calculate the last dose plus the next 7 days, yes t comes to 11 days of total coverage.
Just have a great belief and go ahead as advised by your Surgeon.
