Will The Buttock Abrasion With Oozing And Inflammation Heal?

My husband was roofing five days ago and slid across the roof the whole time. After coming home he realized whole inside of crack of buttocks is severely abrased. It is now oozing and extremely inflamed. I told him to use neosporin......is this right? Will it dry up? Is in infected? Thank you
