Will The Hair Bumps In Penis Shaft Be Due To Herpes?

Hi, on June 11, 2015 my fiancé and I went to the hospital due to concerns of what seems to be hair bumps on my finaces shaft . This has never happend before. It started off as two small bumps that he said was caused by a razor from him shaving. Before things got bad we continued to have sex not thinking anything of it until we tried to proceed one last time and he said it hurted because his penis was stretched . The doctor diagnosed him with inflamation of hair follicles. However I noticed on the discharge papers that he would be tested for syphlis and herpes . The syphlis test came back negative however the test results for the herpes test are still not in! I don t know what to do . I have no symptoms no signs of anything . I have been doing alot of researching but its only making matters worse for the both of us mentally ! Please help. Most stories that I have read , no one goes to the Dr. First but we did . Also he has no burning symptoms when he is urinating it doesn t hurt for him to walk around or anything. Another thing that freaked me out was that the Dr. Didn t insist that I go get tested for anything but it s hard to wait not knowing what s going on! Please somebody help!

Hi,
Welcome ti HCM.

The vesicles in Genital Herpes would contain clear fluid whereas the hair folliculitis appear as white due to pus collection. The vesicles over the shaft would not persist for more than 12 hours and would become ulcerated (tiny grouped) in case of Genital Herpes. More over Herpes vesicles used to occur in groups and not over the root of a hair follicles.
From the description given by you, the lesions over the shaft of penis of your boy friend is unlikely to be due to Genital Herpes and more towards Hair Folliculitis.
