Will The Neck Infected Wound Be Stitched Or Cleaned For Secondary Healing?

Hi i am jus wanting to ask some advice, I had a lymph node in neck removed in june 10, and the wound dehissed and a section remains open and needing daily packs, i am on antibiotics for infection and the consultant wants to re-operate next week, do you think he will be able to stitch the infected wound or do you think he will clean out and leave to secondary healing? I was thinking of asking him to wait untill infection heals and then he can close wound
