Will The Periods Be Delayed Post Intake Of Emergency Contraceptive Pill?

Hi doctor, I had my last periods on 30th of January, on Monday my guy ejaculated near my vagina but we didn t have sex Intercourse because I am a Virgin, I feared alot and took p2 pills, after one day I had lower leftstomach pains but didn t experience other side effects, what s really happening, when am I likely to experience next periods

Thank you for your query.

Yes it is possible that your period may be delayed if the pill was taken prior to ovulation.
Please wait until your period is late by two weeks. Take a pregnancy test and see your doctor with results.
If negative, ovarian cysts or other hormonal causes need to be ruled out.
I would recommend an ultrasound scan to check for any cysts.
If present , these usually resolve themselves on their own in a couple of months.
Lifestyle changes, travel, physical & emotional stress, sudden weight gain/loss can all delay periods.
