Will The Scar Caused By Steam Burn Disappear?

Hi Doctor !!

yesterday i got my hand just down to elbow burnt by steam and my skin became red.
I have applied cold water , ice , toothpaste immediately and now applying silverex ionic oinment.
Is it fine .....to use ...will my scars be removed ....kindly guide

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

You did the right thing by using cold water. Ice and toothpaste were however not the right things to do.

Anyways, continue with silverax ointment twice daily till the skin is healed and there are no raw areas.

Steam burns usually dont result in scaring, except a few pigmentary changes. Any postinflammatory hypopigmentation or depigmentation can be managed later on once the skin has healed, with a moderately potent topical steroid e.g fluticasone propionate cream.
