Will The Thumb Sensations Return After The Injury?

On Sunday I was cutting watermelon and the knife slipped and cut my left thumb just under the nail bed on the right side. It bled pretty badly for about 30 min and continued to bleed very lightly for 24 hours. The area around the cut up to the tip of my finger is completely numb. There is a dull achy feeling around the knuckles that has persisted since the cut occurred. There doesn't seem to be any discoloration and I have kept the cut clean and bandaged well the past 2 days. My question is do you think the feeling will come back or do you think the damage is bad enough that I should consult my PCP?
