Will There Be Any Birth Defects If The Couple Have The Same Blood Group?

Me and my wife have same blood group i.e., O+ve Blood group.It seems like it may cause in baby birth defects during pregnency of wife.So could you please help me in clearing our doubt that "what if both husband and wife have same blood group "O+ve". Also if there are any chances as such please let us know if any precautionary treatments that the wife should need to undergo.Kindly please do the needful in this regards.

Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
There is NO ADVERSE EFFECTS if the couple is having the same blood group.
Complications only arise when the mother is Rh negative, and the father is Rh positive.
Both of you are Rh positive, that is, O positive.
That causes no birth defects or any kind of risks to the future pregnancy.
Do not worry unnecessarily.
Take regular folic acid tablets periconceptionally however.
No other special precautions are necessary.
Do not stress out.
