Will There Be Any Effect Of Injection That Is Given After Abortion?

I am married and divorced, during my marriage life I had a miscarriage due to anemia, after the abortion I have been given a injection (I guess it is anti-D) since my husband and my blood group was different. Now my parents are forcing me to get marry again, so if I marry another guy, will there be any effect of that injection which was given after abortion.

Hallow Dear,

I have gathered from your history that you are Rh -ve and your then husband was Rh +ve. You had abortion and after the abortion, to avoid ill effects of possible Rh+ ve cells from the baby, you were given Rh antigammaglobulin injection.

In fact the problem with Rh incompatibility is that Rh +ve being dominant, most of the times the baby is Rh +ve. During abortion (or delivery and sometimes during pregnancy also) few cells of baby slip in to the mothers blood. This leads to the formation of antibodies in mother's blood against Rh +ve cells. These antibodies in future may entre the blood of the babies of future pregnancies and kill the red cells of baby. Thus the babies are at danger. With every pregnancy, the danger to the baby goes on increasing.

To avoid this reaction, injection antigammaglobulin is given to the mother. This prevents the formation of antibodies in mother's blood and the future baby is saved.

Since you have received this injection, you should not be having theses Rh antibodies in your blood and should not face problem in future pregnancies. This can be confirmed by examination of your blood and assessing the titre of Rh antibodies.

The Rh problem is like this. It does not cause any problem in marital life. So the best option is get your blood tested for Rh antibodies. If they are negligible or absent, you may straight a way go for pregnancy.

However, during the pregnancy monitoring by assessing Rh antibodies is mandatory. Depending up on the titre, some treatment to the baby during pregnancy or immediately after delivery may be required.

I feel, since you were protected by Rh antigammaglobulin injection, you should not have any problem.

I hope this information will give you courage and confidence of marriage.
