Dear Friend,
Unprotected precarious sexual act can give rise to one or many of the so many sexually transmitted diseases. HIV is one of the very important one in addition to the STIs like
Syphilis,
Gonorrhoea, LGV, etc. There are more than 20 sexually transmitted infections. With unprotected sex with an infected or carrier individual, there is always a risk of the infection.
And moreover, there is a risk of unwanted
pregnancy also.
HIV antibody test may not give confirmation as there is a window period of 15 days to 6 months, averaging 3 months, in which in spite of the HIV in the blood, the test may be negative. PCR tests are more reliable with a shorter window period. See HIV counsellor for the guidance.
I would advise you to report to a STI specialist to find out the status. Also, keep a watch on your
menstruation. If you miss period, perform urine pregnancy test 8-10 days after missed period. If positive, there are medicines which can terminate the pregnancy safely up to 9 weeks.
Instead of panicking, take
medical opinion and treatment if needed.
