Hi I have a question about detoxing from regular alcohol use/abuse. I am up to at least one bottle of wine per evening, sometimes less sometimes more. But when I quit cold-turkey a few months ago - after a couple of days I had a "seisure". Now I'm afraid to quit.
hello user , if you are regularly using that much wine daily , then it is possible that you have developed dependence and due to abrupt cessation you experienced a "withdrawl seizure" - however continuing alcohol use will only escalate the problem - what you need to do is to go visit a psychiatrist , who will evaluate you and may admit you under supervision and provide medicines like chlordiazepoxide or lorazepam so that your withdrawl symptoms remain suppressed while you get detoxified and then you will be able to leave alcohol if you have a good will , some anticraving drugs like naltrexone can help you with that too but all that needs to be done under medical supervision. take care - hope i answered your query - if satisfied please rate the answer
