With Low Platelet Count And A History Of Thyroid Cancer And Family History Of Myelofibrosis?

Hello- I was diagosed about 4 years ago with Thrombocytopenia. The lowest my platelets have been, so far, (although only tested once a year) has been 118,000 platelet count. It has been suggested that I see a Hematologist. My question is, should I wait to see a hematologist until if and when my platelets are lower than what they are now? I only ask if I should wait, since I currently do not have health insurance. On the other hand, my mother died from Myelofibrosis and I wonder if it could be a genetic and this does concern me. Also, I have had thyroid cancer twice in the past. Thank you!
