Hello, and I hope I can help you today.

The unwanted kit is designed to induce labor in an already existing pregnancy. It makes your uterus have contractions. If you took the medication 48 hours after conception, there is not yet any baby formed, so it makes sense that the medicine did not work.

The positive news is because you took the medicine before the pregnancy was established, it should not have any effect on the developing fetus.

If you decide to continue the pregnancy, you do not have to worry about the effects of the Cytotec (the medicine in the unwanted kit) causing birth defects or other problems. If you still want to terminate the pregnancy, your doctor can give you the proper dosing of Cytotec to safely induce termination or you can have a surgical procedure under medical supervision.

The standard dosing regimen recommended for using Misoprostil (Cytotec) in the US is referenced here: http://www.misoprostol.org/guidelines-non-doctors/

I hope I was able to answer your question today and that this information was helpful.

Best wishes,

Dr. Brown
