Would Laxido Cause Side Effects After Long Term Use?

I have been prescribed laxido and have been taking 4 per day as I was severely constipated. I have been taking this now for just over 2 months. I have a hypoactive thyroid which I am taking thyroxine. I have always suffered from IBS / constipation and my thyroid problem is contributing to this now. Can you tell me if there are any side effects to taking this long term? At present every time I eat I need to go to the toilet. Is this normal? If I ever stop taking it I do not go at all and become sore and bloated. Thank you for your help. Christine

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Unfortunately the chronic or continued use of any laxative can cause issues.

It can eventually worsen constipation because the bowel stops working on its own, becomes completely dependent on the use of the laxative

You should consider increasing your fiber and fluid intake. The use of copious fruits and vegetables, whole grain products and fiber supplements, may be helpful to you

I hope this helps
