Would Macrocystosis Of RBC And Hypothyroid Problems Cause Sleep Apnea?

Hello Doc,

I am 63 and was diagnosed to be suffering from Sleep Apnea in 1992 and was using the CPAP for about three years.I am 5'8'' and weighing about 78kg now.Recently my blood report said that I have Macrocystosis of the RBC and also hypothyroid problems.I was given VIT B12 injections for 10 alternate days and am having Thyrroxin 100mg daily.Feeling much better these days but for the recent

development of piles which has been latent for so many years.

Please suggest or prescribe.I live in India near New Delhi.

Regards,

I read your query and I am sorry about the problems you have had.

Macrocytosis is not associated with sleep apnea.

Hypothyroidism on the other hand has been often associated with sleep apnea and could well have been the cause as is suggested also by your improvement.

Piles are not related to any of those conditions, they are a separate condition.

I hope to have answered your question.
