Would An Abdominal Hysterectomy Cause A Change In Thyroid Behavior?

Hello Dr. Grief. In November 2011, I had a total abdominal hysterectomy. I was put on 2 mg of estrace daily and as of today have gained 60 lbs. I m a healthy eater and work a physical labor job and still seem to have no control over this weight gain. I m going to my Dr. on Tuesday for my refill but I am hesitant to take it any longer. I m 45 years old and I was told I would need to take it until I m 50-52. I also would like to know if my thyroid would behave differently after a hysterectomy. Thanks for the help. Connie
