Would Applying Heat And Ice On Sprain Be The Advisable Treatment?

My 13 year old daughter has a foot sprain a mild one she did a a BB game on 1-26 she has been on the foot with some discomfort and swelling is liminal. We iced it the first 24 hrs and should we know put heat on it to increase healing? We wrapped the sprain tonight for BB practice and she practiced with mild pain she said pain is 2 out of 10. She has not seen any increased swelling. Are we doing the correct things to allow her to get back to normal. She has another BB game tomorrow and we are wondering if we should bench her for the game? She wants to play. She is a key player for her team.

thank you for posting your query in healthcaremagic.com.....

well icing or cold compress for foot sprain is a part of the treatment and you should continue it for 2 more days...then you can give alternate cold and hot compress for 2-3 days....and if the pain is more, painkiller should be taken alongwith....
also, rest of the affected foot is suggested....it will be better for her to avoid strenuous activities for the next 3-4 days...if she again undergoes injury, it can be worse this time....

hope this was helpful....
contact me for any further queries.....
