Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Would Increasing Isosorb Mono Reduce Chest Discomfort Post Angioplasty?
My cardiologist was unable--due to lack of equipment--to insert a stent in an artery that was 100% clogged. However, he did open the artery angioplasty. For 2 - 3 weeks I felt much better. Now I m feeling lethargic like I was before the procedure. I ve also developed slight chest discomfort--again like I was before. I reported this, through his nurse. She reported back that I should increase my isosorb mono from 30 to 60 mg. This will probably reduce my chest discomfort, but will it make me feel better? I m wintering in Texas and he s back in Wichita.
Isosorb is a arterial dilator which relieves chest pain by vasodilatation, It is indicated in anginal chest pain.
But usually chest pain relieves after doing angioplasty and if you are getting any episodes of chest pain then you need to review with your cardiologist rather than taking isosorb because you might be having stent blockage due to thrombosis.
Or else if you are having repeated chest pain then it means you might be having artery blockage some where else in coronary vessels which needs to be again checked.
But blindly increasing your isosorb will cause hypotension, which is dangerous.
Thanks
