Would Taking Depakote Lead To Hair Loss And Loss Of Hair Density After Taking It For A Whole Year?
If depakote of dosage 500mg is used for more than a year for bipolar, would it result in hairloss or reduce hair density? My hair density has clearly decreased after this treatment. So is the hairloss naturally reversible after stopping the medicine intake?
Hair loss with use of Depakote is a very common mild side effect. But fortunately, this side effect is usually reversible, after stoppage of this drug. Usually the patients of Bipolar disease, will not have to take it life long as compared to patients of epilepsy or other seizure conditions, who may have to take it for very long periods or even life long. However, your treating doctor is the best judge for the duration of this drug in your case also.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
