Would Taking Alcohol While On Medication For Cardiomyopathy Be Considered Safe?

Hello, my 52 year old sister just found out she has cardiomyopathy. Over the last 5-6 years she has been able to drink, with no problem a whole bottle of wine and then some. She is also a smoker. I feel she is an alcoholic, but she doesn't drink every day. She is in denial about her drinking habits. When she does drink it's usually excessive and smokes more when she is drinking. Her Doctor told her that her condition was genetic and it's ok for her to drink as long as she doesn't over do it. No one in my family on both sides has that condition, not my mom or dad. She is on medication now, but I just saw her last night and she downed a whole bottle of Merlot. Because she wants to believe it was passed down from our parents, she's even more defensive that it wasn't from drinking.
