can being a diabetic really take 5 - 10 years off your life ? I overherd two women talking on a bus the other day about diabetes and how awful it is ect and they said it takes 5 - 10 years off you life if you have diabetes. i have had type 1 diabetes for almost 3 years and i have never been told this but now im worried about it does anyone know if it is true ?

The life span in diabetes depends on hw weel you have your sugars under control. Remember to go for regular checks, take insulin, do not miss does, continue diabetic diet, and exercise regularly. When sugars are not controlled, other problems of infections and complications start leading to reductions in life span.
