Congestion And Nasal Swelling, Foul Smell. What Could It Be?
Good morning! I am having an issue with congestion and nasal swelling in my left nostril. This started in today but for the last couple day prior, I noticed just inside my left nostril that I have a sore. Was wondering what it may be and took a tissue and scraped it off. No clue but after I did this, I noticed a foul smell with it and each time it scabbed over and blew my nose, the same foul smell was present. Also, that side of my nose also is tender. Looking to call my family doctor when the office opens today. Any idea what this may be?
Your description is not very clear. Generally, you should avoid tampering with your nose. Scrapping off tissues, resultant scab formation and tenderness of nose suggest to me that you may have a condition called vestibulitis of nose. In that case you need to avoid creating further injury. Do not worry; call your family doctor. If you have vestibulitis you will be given an antibiotic and an ointment.
