How Long Does It Take FOR A Stool Softener To Work?

Tomorrow I am to start prep for a colonoscopy that is scheduled for Monday. I am to take a stool softener tablet at 8 AM and another one at noon. My concern is that I am organist at church tomorrow and have to be in 2 services during 8:30 and 11:00. Will the stool softener start working before 11?

12-48 hours.

Based on the history you seem to have been prescribed docussate sodium which is an effective stool softener helps in evacuation of bowel before colonoscopy.

Given orally it takes about 12-48 hours to produce bowel evacuation.
