Is It Safe To Use A Topical NSAID Cream For Suspected Hand Osteoarthritis If I’m Allergic To Ibuprofen?

I think I am stating to get osteoarthritis in a few joints in my hands. I had an experience in the hospital once where I had and allergic reaction the to antibiotic they put me on. They said it would be best to avoid ibuprofen, as well as that antibiotic. I used to take Advils all the time before, but haven t since that happened. I have found a cream for my arthritis I think would be best to try, but it is a Topical NSAID cream. This is where I m not sure I am allowed to use the cream. Can I still apply the cream if I can t take ibuprofen?
