My Mother Who Is 87 Said That She Sprained Her

my mother who is 87 said that she sprained her left foot a little while ago, this turns out to be 1 month ago. I saw her foot yesterday, and compared to the right, is quite swollen. She said she had seen her doctor, but it turns out the doctor quickly looked at her foot as she was there to have her driver's licence signed. No x-ray was taken. Should she be seen again, and is it possible she has a fracture?
