Sinus Problems????

Hi, i've been having sinus problems for the past year but the last 2 weeks have been horrible. Two weeks ago on monday i had bad ear pressure/fluid in my ears in my left ear, and overall pressure on my left side of head. I've been kinda lightheaded and shaky for the past two weeks also. Finally was able to go to the ent specialist and is having me do a sinus rinse, a steriod and nose spray. Started the rinse yesterday, and today when i did it it hurt, it burned going throught the nostrils. Is that normal for the first few times? Also I now have really bad pressure on my right side, left side is a bit better, still have the slight lightheadedness and shakiness. Is it normal for sinus pressure to switch sides like that, i've never had that happen before.
