Taken 300mg Allopurinol Was Taking 100 Mg Three Times A

taken 300mg allopurinol was taking 100 mg three times a day some times forgot to take 3 times a day so doctor upped it to one 300 tablet i am 81 years . a long time ago a doctor told me to stop because i did not have gout so i stopped then years later another doctor said start again .nothing happened to me by stopping medication in that time? so i am thinking of stopping the allopurinol to if anything ie gout flares up again i will know if i have gout .what do you think thanks john
