What Are The Causes Of High Sugar Levels?

I had a mild stroke ich on 10 Dec 2010 due to uncontrolled bp and diagonise with LVH.At that my fasting sugar was 118 and others parameters like lft,na,k etc were all normal.For the last three years i am under bp medicines viz beta blocker,alpha blocker,calciumm channel blocker,arkamin,atorva 5 pazosin.my bp is now aronund 150,160/80.BUt recently MY SUGAR LEVEL raised to 264 fbs. What are the reasons, I took all tests all are normal including lft,routine urine excepting glucose present, ecg,echo, na and k level.pl advise

Hi,
An abnormal sugar level, that too a fasting sugar of 264 is high. A value of 118 in dec 2010 should have caused an alarm for further investigations and should have warranted lifestyle modifications and medications.
However, it now appears to be diabetes mellitus, possibly type II due to development of insulin resistance or reduced insulin levels or both. Type II is due to genetics with compounding factor of obesity.
You can get a confirmation if you still doubt the values through HbA1c estimation. If it is raised you are confirmed diabetes mellitus.
