What Are The Harmful Effects Of Antibiotics?

Hi, my niece who is ten months was prescribed cefotaxime IM shots twice a day for treating a urinary problem even after my sister notified a doctor that this antibiotic should not be given to children younger then 2 years old doctor said that it is not a problem but on the second day after a morning shot a baby got an allergy reaction so my sister stopped the shots but worries about side effects that this antibiotic could cause.

My questions is what is the worst damage to baby organs this antibiotic can cause and if my sister should examine a baby for those site effects?
