Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi there my name is Morgan and I am 19 years old, so this problem only happens every once in a while (I can’t remeber the last time it happnened) but there is like a lump on the outside of my anus. It just appeared there this morning so I’m unsure of the cause. Previously it “pops out” if I’m going to the bathroom and pushing really hard. I don’t like having this conversation with my mom and not sure if it’s something to be super concerned about!
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The symptoms of bump sticking out from anus while pushing in bathroom can be Hemorrhoid or piles.
Hemorrhoids are inflamed and swollen veins that are formed when there is continuous irritation of the veins present in the rectum area and inflammation can lead to pain and bleeding during bowel evacuation.
Consult a Proctologist and get evaluated and a clinical evaluation and anoscopy can be done for diagnosis. In case if piles is confirmed then you can be advised:
-Application of steroid and numbing ointment. -Sitz bath that is sitting in warm water tub especially after bowels. -High fibre diet along with laxatives like Polyethylene glycol and stool softeners like Docusate to maintain proper bowels. -Avoid spicy food and drink plenty of water.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
