What Causes Pain In Hand & Feet During Diabetes?

My husband is a type 2 diabetic. He can not control his sugars. He has been diagnosed i8 years. He has pain in his hands and feet, has lost the use of both thumbs and index fingers and for the last year he has had extreme dizzy spells, walking like he is drunk. At the Drs. today, he said it is sugar related. This makes my husband furious. He thinks he should be checked for something.I just get besides my self. I can,t fix this for him. He sees an endocrinologist next month.

Diabetologist 's  Response
Hi, I had gone through your query and understood your concerns.

Mam, I appreciate your concern. What the treating doctor said is correct. It is diabetes related. It is called diabetic neuropathy.

In long standing diabetes and poor control of blood sugars, Over time, this can damage the covering on your nerves or the blood vessels that bring oxygen to your nerves. Damaged nerves may stop sending messages, or may send messages slowly or at the wrong times.

This damage is called diabetic neuropathy.

Drugs like pregabilin and methyl cobalamin combinations would help your husband. Discuss regarding dosages with your treating doctor.

Hope this guides you. For any other queries you can write to us. we will be happy to help you. Thank you.
