What Causes Sore Throat, Fever And Swollen Tonsil?

I woke up with a sore throat and small fever two weeks ago. Went back to sleep and woke up to look in the mirror and saw my left tonsil swollen and black with a few white spots. I immediately went to urgent care because the pain was so bad. Strep came back negative as did the mono test. However, I have been extremely tired ever since I started feeling ill. She diagnosed and treated me for tonsillitis with the script of penicillin. I started the script on that Monday afternoon and continued as I was directed. My fever didn t go away until wednesday evening. I took my last antibiotic Wednesday (10 days of it) and now my throat is sore again and I m afraid it s coming back. Was I diagnosed wrong? Should I go back to the doctor?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
U need to take anti inflammatories with it. It may be a chronic infection. Do routine betadine gargles. Tonsils may need to be removed if it is a severe chronic infection.
