I had my test for HIV some time back, it was negative but the doctor told me that I could be in WINDOW PERIOD. What is window period?? I should admit that I have high risk behavior

WINDOW PERIOD IS THE TIME TAKEN BY SOME VIRUS TO PRODUCE ENOUGH ANTIBODIES WHICH COULD BE DETECTED BY BLOOD TESTS TO DETECT PRESENCE OF SUCH VIRUS IN BLOOD OF INVECTED PERSON IN HIV IT IS MAXIMUM 03 MONTHS BUT MAY BE 06 MONTHS IN A RARE SITUATION.PERIOD OF SEROCONVERSION FROM INFECTION PERIOD IN MEDICAL LANGUAGE.

window period is the time from entry of the virus to the detection of the antibody human body,It is usually 3-4months . in this period though the person is infected with the virus, in the ELISA TEST the patient will be found -ve. & if the person is suspected to have high risk behavior, the person is advised Repeat ELISA test after 3-4months
