Are There Any Known Side Effects From Metrogel Prescribed For Rosacea On The Face With Relation To Sun Exposure Or Indoor Tanning Machines?

My doctor prescribed Metrogel for me due to rosacea on my face. Are there any known side effects from Metrogel with relation to sun exposure or indoor tanning machines? I own a tanning bed and only use it once or twice a week for 12 minutes each time in 4 - 6 day intervals. Thank you for your advice. Janet L.

Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
There is no side effects from metrogyl in relation to sun exposure or tanning beds.
However, your rosacea will definitely worsen with sun exposure and use of tanning beds. Sunlight is the main precipitating cause for rosacea and you have to avoid it by all means. You should in fact use a broad spectrum sunscreen every 4 hours even if you are indoors and even in cloudy weather.
Hope this helps you.
Take care.
