Thank you very much. I found this answer to be very thoughtful and thorough. It filled in the gaps of information that we weren't able to get in the emergency room visit and follow up appointment and helped to make an educated decision about treatment. I am very happy to say that it appears the blood clot has resolved itself and my husband will be having a follow up ultrasound in a couple of weeks to be sure that all is well. Thanks again - we appreciate your help.

Suggestions were right on. Back problem was not related to bladder problems; rather mechanical back issue.
