If there is any organ that is severely affected during summer, it is the skin. It would be badly damaged if proper care is not taken. The natural oils that are produced by skin that were frozen in winter would start flowing in the summer. The skin looks dull, blemished and oily.

The Ultraviolet rays from the sun would affect the deeper layers of the skin and damage the underlying protein and collagen. The skin loses elasticity. This is the reason why most of the wrinkles that appear on the skin are because of these UV rays. The skin looses firmness.  For people living in coaster areas sweat during summer would dehydrate the skin further.

  1. Prevent dehydration by drinking as much water as possible. It is good to have water even before you feel thirst as you would have lost more than 1% of body water by then. The more water you drink the healthy the skin.
  2. Avoid carbonated drinks like colas, they aggravate dehydration. Tender coconut water, lemonade and dry green mango water are good drinks in summer.
  3. Stay in shade as much as possible especially between 10AM to 4PM.  
  4. If you have a traveling job and cannot be under roof, wear full clothes, hat and goggles to protect your skin and eyes from sun damage.
  5. Using sun screen is a good option.
  6. You should be careful while choosing sun screen.
  7. Experts recommend to use a sun screen with SPF over 30 and PA ++.
  8. Seasonal fruits can prevent damage to your skin. Cucumbers, Watermelon are the best fruits to be consumed in summer.
  9. Moisturization is the most important. Use water based moisturizer available. Cold rose water splashes help your facial skin and keep you fresh.
  10. Toning is important to your skin apart from bleaching, cleansing and exfoliation. Olive oil is the best than any toning agent. Aloe vera extracts are good agents help tone the skin. It avoids allergic reaction, rashes and clogging.
  11. It is better to wear strapped footwear than full covered shoe. Choose foot wear that can allow air to circulate inside.
