How Diabetes affects Eyes?
Diabetes mellitus has established itself to be a pandemic disease. Diabetes is known to cause damage tothe retina of the eye. This condition is also called as diabetic retinopathy. This is caused by changes in blood vessels of the retina due to persistently raised blood glucose levels. It may result in vision loss. All the diabetic patients are potential candidates for vision impairment.

Eye Care during Diabetes
Eye care is important in order to prevent vision impairment. First and the most important action needed is strict control of blood glucose level. At the same time other risk factors like high blood pressure, high cholesterol should be controlled. Quit smoking as it may deteriorate the vision further. This will prevent development or progression of Diabetic retinopathy.
