Chickenpox lesions are generally widespread and sometimes do involve mucosa if severe.
Though it is caused by a self limiting viral infection it's important to consult the child's pediatrician for supportive therapy. Such therapy though not curative , does help in faster symptomatic relief and avoidance of complications.
The treatment includes
1.analgesic anti inflammatory medicines like acetaminophen for pain relief.
2. Oral and local antiviral agents like acyclovir tablet and ointment to decrease the severity of lesions.
3. Oral and topical antibiotics to prevent complications like superadded bacterial infection and pneumonia .
Calamine lotion can be applied to skin for soothing relief but is best avoided for mucosal lesions . Topical anesthetic jelly like lignocaine can be prescribed by your doctor for mucosal lesions but does carry the risk of sideffects . Hence if oral analgesic has not been started , its advisable to start minimal strength ( 10-15 mg/kg/dose ) acetaminophen as per her doctors prescription
Only if pain persists despite such treatment then antiviral and anesthetic agents should be tried .
So kindly consult her pediatrician for a thorough evaluation of the severity, to rule out any complications and to start supportive therapy.
Meanwhile you can help in faster recovery of the child by keeping her well hydrated ( plenty of fluids) and well fed.
Hope I have answered your query.
Wishing her a speedy recovery.
