Question : my husband suffers from leg cramps and started on potassium. How long is it safe to take
Hi and welcome.
Well, before any potassium supplements it would be advisable to check blood potassium levels to see if there is lack of potassium or even elevated. However, standard water soluble potassium tablet can be taken for longer period with no fear of hyperkaliemia if taken once per day so many people take it for lifetime. Also some other causes may be considered as to cause cramps such as lack of magnesium or calcium or vascular insufficiency so these should be ruled out. Wish you good health.
