Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
63 yr. old diabetic, 5 6 195 lbs. Breast cancer, lumpectomy April, 2011. Chemotherapy, 5th treatment today. Excrutiating leg cramps. what can I do for the pain. (doing remarkably well otherwise.) Oh, I only have one kidney but oncologist says its fine.
The cramps could be related to neuropathy or vitamin D deficiency. For this reason, I recommend checking first vitamin D and vitamin B12 plasma levels for possible deficiency. If these tests result normal, I would recommend taking Pregabalin or Gabapentin for the pain.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
