Question : my husband has a perianal abcess at what stage should this be drained and do antibiotics help
he had an peri anal abcess drained 3 years this is a reoccurance

Perianal abscess should be drained as early as possible. Antibiotic shall certainly help in control of disease process but shall not alleviate the pathology.

Surgery is recommended at the earliest as the possibility of development of fistula increases with time.
