Question : Greetings,

I hope your answer brings some peace of mind to me.
I had two case of protected oral and V sex with escorts late september and there was no condom failure, there was no kissing or any other thing. I didnt have any symptoms but then i was very anxious about it and took a rapid test at 5 weeks which came nack negative and was heart warming, then i heard that it cant be conclusive so second time three weeka latee, 8.5 weeks from possible exposure i went to my gp and they took my blood and sent it to lab, i guess it was standard test but not sure, anyhow it came back negative and was really a big relief. However from yesterday i have pain in my knee and its neen almost 7 months since that and i read that muscle and joint pain can be sign of hiv, surprisingy i have some sort of white tongue as well, well its not now ever since i remeber i had this but all and all made me super anxious again and to go and test again is beyond me. Please help me.

Brief Answer:
Your symptoms are not related to HIV.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
You had protected oral and vaginal sex with both incidence. So your risk is negligible for HIV/STD.
Window period for HIV is around 6-8 weeks after the high risk contact (yours was not a high risk contact) and there could be a possibility of the same to extend up to 12 weeks or 90 days. Even though your negative HIV test 8.5 weeks after the incident was reliable, it can be considered as more conclusive after 12 weeks.
Your symptoms like muscle and joint pain and whitish appearance of the tongue can occur with many conditions for anybody without HIV.
Nothing to worry.
