No possibility of HIV infection.

Hi
Thanks for your query at HCM.
I understand your concern and situation.

Why are you worried? HIV does not spread by the way you described. None such case has ever been reported in medical literature. The HIV does not survive outside body. Why will your fingers have HIV. HIV is not found in atmosphere. It only spreads by sexual intercourse, mother to child and blood transfusion. So don't worry. Just apply antibiotics cream on your wound. No tests advised.

Hai doc,

I have bought a new toothbrush kit and I did not realize that is sealed or not. Is it possible to get HIV if that has been used by someone?

doctor
Answered by Dr. Sheetal Verma (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
No risk of HIV 100%.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

No absolutely not. Toothbrush packs are usually sealed and sterlized before package. Even if it was not sealed or sterlized and was used by someone who is HIV positive, then also there is no chance of acquiring infection as virus does not survive outside body.

Take care

I have read some information that show me got risk for the sharing toothbrush but some said not. Some said the inside the toothpaste that's got detergent to "kill" the HIV. But I know the virus has not life and how come be "kill" by toothbrush?

Do I need to worry about the toothbrush stuff?

I have felt I got paranoids about HIV despite I understand some circumstance was not be able to get infected.

Example, I have a drink in Starbucks and the straw was sealed, unfortunately I found some liquid (same color with my drink) on the straw and I rather believe that was somebody liquid on the straw and scare to get HIV.

I believe that was be infected in theoretically stuff and not to believe the realistically infection rate. That's means, if it could be occur with theory just 0.0001%, I believe it could be occur on me.

So, I understand I need some positive life and stay optimistic and trying to do, but I am suffering by the HIV phobia and paranoids. Neither blood exchange nor body fluid exchange, I still life with suffering by HIV.

Any good idea for me? I don't think that need to seeking a treatment by psychiatric, I hope can cure this phobias by myself.

Brief Answer:
Need to visit psychiatrist.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I understand your concern and situation.

I would like to tell you that you are not alone and there are several individuals who are like you. The best treatment is to fight your fear. Try to live life with a routine schedule. Pray to God daily and believe in him. Follow your religious practices which instill positivity in you and your thoughts. Yes I would suggest you to visit a psychiatrist too and trust me it will be too beneficial. Play with children, cook food and help others. Involve yourself in a hobby and travel to places at intervals. Remember the best medicine is yoga, exercise and meditation. Try it regularly and walk briskly for half to one hour daily. I am always there to help you whenever you need.

Take care
Best of Luck.

dear doc,

Is it not easily to get HIV virus right? Or rather, if without sex with other and not huge amount of bleeding, it's not possible to get infection, right?

i study some information which show me that it's 'possible' to get the infection if got wound touched with other body fluid or blood in theoretically, and , I easily get ulcer and I afraid get infected from other through saliva, blood or body fluid.

I need do a conclusion with my mind and tell it that's nothing, but, I just want to understand is it impossible to get infected via daily activity?

I know the problem which i had and in free t4 also lower than normal, I tried to get half dose of thyroxine before but get fever and don't felt ver well after taken it. Therefore, I decided to give up this thyroxine treatment.

In exercise, I play badminton 2/3 times weekly. No other exercise beside this.

i realized my problem and seeking the solution, else, it will affect my life quality.

thanks your advice

Brief Answer:
You need to allay your anxiety and don't let negative thoughts appear.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I would like to tell you there is big difference between hypothetical and practical risk. The hiv infection is not transmitted with the routine daily activities. There have been no such cases ever reported in medical literature till now. Even if a person does sex with an hiv positive person the risk as as low as 1 in 999. So you must understand that HIV infection is not easily caught even in its natural course. So rare situation which you think are nothing but only fear in your mind. You have to control your negative thoughts. There is actually nothing you need to worry about.
