Brief Answer:
Do not unnecessarily give antibiotics

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

An abdominal pain is not an indication of treatment with antibiotics like Oflox 100. Unless there is dysentery (bloody diarrhea) associated or unless your doctor has prescribed it for other reasons, you should not give Oflox to your child, at least without having a finding of elevated WBC count in blood.

I do not think that you need to give Depocalm (diazepam) to your child.

It could be due to a stomach infection or food poisoning but that does not mean antibiotics need to be given. It could be due to contaminated food or improper hand hygiene. Such conditions are self limiting and usually subside in a few days. Since gastritis is likely to be involved it is a good idea to give Lanzol Junior tablet once daily before breakfast for the next few days.

The mainstay of treatment is ORS (oral rehydration solution). Unless the lost salts and fluids are replenished the child would become dehydrated. The urine output needs to be monitored. If the frequency comes down it indicates dehydration and calls for additional supplementation of fluids. But if the child becomes lethargic you would need to take the child to a hospital without delay.

Give Calpol (paracetamol) to bring down the temperature if it goes above 100°F. Also give tepid sponging.

Please mention the body weight of your child and I will mention the right dosage for him.

Please be patient. It may take a few days for the situation to return to normal. Feel free to write back.

Regards
