Can Pravastatin Be Taken For Muscle Cramps?

Question: I am "suffering" from leg cramps & what feels like muscle spasms on the inner leg and lower left abdominal area. These can last 3 hours at a time. I have had a battery of tests including a colonoscopy, cystscopic exam, bladder tests and even a cat scan. Nothing seems to reveal the source. About the time all of this started, I was prescribed a higher dose of Pravastatin Sodium- 40 MG. Any chance this could be the source?
Brief Answer:
Yes. It causes muscle cramps
Detailed Answer:
Hi there
Thanks for the query
Yes, Pravastatin is known to sometimes cause muscle inflammation and hence pain and muscle cramps.
It will be advisable to keep well hydrated. Do daily brisk walking exercise. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables.
If this does not help, your can consult with your physician to make dose adjustments or change the drug altogether.
