Question : Hello doctor. About 5 weeks ago i had a massage. Masseuse worked on my body for about 45 minutes and then ended with a hand job. Any risk of STD specially genital herpes.
Brief Answer:
No risk
Detailed Answer:
hello. thank you for writing to us.
I am Dr. kakkar(dermatologist and venereologist). I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.
Body massage does not transmit HSV (Genital Herpes) or any other STDs . Neither does a Handjob.
An STD, including HSV (Genital Herpes) can possibly be transmitted only if there is sexual contact with an infected partner e.g penetrative vaginal, anal or oral sex but never through a body massage.
Regards

Thanks a lot Doctor. I feel better. On the same note, if somone gets exposed to HSV, how much time does it take for the 1st outbreak to appear?
Brief Answer:
Regarding genital herpes
Detailed Answer:
hello.
Incubation period of HSV varies from 2-10days. However, not all new infections manifest as clinical episodes. Many new HSV infections are clinically silent and may manifest later. Therefore, in patients who have had many sexual partners, it may be hard to tell, when and from whom, they acquired the infection.
In the absence of a typical clinical episode, a lab test (ELISA for type 1&2 HSV, IgG ) done 12-16weeks after a possible new infection helps to either confirm or rule out HSV.
