Why My Girlfriend Has HSV 2 And I Have HSV 1?

Hello, ive been with my current girlfriend for two months now. She had only been with one other guy before me and has never had a problem until me. She went for std testing after she experienced discomfort and was diagnosed with hsv 2. So the following week I went to a physician and was tested and i tested positive for hsv 1 but not hsv 2. How is this possible

thank you for query.it is quite possible to have separate strains as you are partners only for past few days.the transmission might not have occurred.But you both are at risk of getting both the types .as it can spread by skin to skin (Kiss touch etc when active)or by sexual contact.The source of infection to both are different.
