Question : i contracted genital herpes approximately 10 years ago. Since that time i have had a intimate relationship with another partner and did not have any breakouts at all. Does this mean that i am still carrying the virus and it can be passed on to another partner? I believe that it can only be passed on if i am encountering a breakout. Is that correct?
Brief Answer:
You can spread HSV even without breakout.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you writing in healthcare magic.
Based on your history , you should know that you can still carry the HSV and genital herpes can be spread even when there are no symptoms or sores(outbreaks).
This is called asymptomatic shedding.
I hope my answer helps you.
Regards.
