Child Bumped On Head And Have Low Grade Fever. Are They Related?

default
Posted on Wed, 24 Oct 2012
Question: My toddler fell down yesterday and bumped his head. He awoke this morning with a low grade fever, which has got worse during the day. Is there likely to be any connection between the head bump and the fever or is it coincidental?

Hi
Thanks for the query

Head trauma is very much crucial and when ever anyone receiving head trauma should be observed for at least 48 hours for symptoms like persistent vomiting, deterioration in level of consciousness and/or fits. fever sometimes can occurs as reactionary due to the local inflammation and will subside within a day or 2. meanwhile paracetamol is recommended during fever.

Thanks
